Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is one of the leading causes of premature death in the United Kingdom. It affects 7 million people and accounts for 1.6 million disability-adjusted life years. One of the biggest risk factors for Cardiovascular disease is Hypertension and it is estimated that over 5.5 million people are living with undiagnosed Hypertension in England alone. Early detection of hypertension is vital in reducing the risk of developing further complications including cardiovascular disease. Over the past two years, levels of detection have fallen due to the impact of COVID-19 on routine blood pressure monitoring; that is where Junction Pharmacy comes in. We are working closely with the NHS to help detect and treat patients with hypertension in our community by providing the NHS Hypertension Service in Brixton, London.

Hypertension

What is Hypertension?

Hypertension, or High Blood Pressure, is a prevalent condition that affects millions worldwide. It is often called the “silent killer” because it often has no noticeable symptoms. If left uncontrolled, hypertension can increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, kidney problems, and other serious health complications. Regular monitoring, lifestyle modifications, and appropriate medical interventions are essential in managing hypertension effectively and reducing the associated risks. Taking steps to maintain a healthy blood pressure level can significantly improve overall well-being and longevity.
